My Family…
Beau is having his last week of summer school. Then its just the two of us until August 16th. That should be interesting. Beau hates being out of school. He’ll be in school DTs by then. Oh joy.
Kat on the other hand is truly enjoying her vacation from school. I love to watch her run on her sturdy little legs, he long hair blowing in the wind. Truly, it warms my heart.
J and I went out of town for our anniversary last Thursday. We didn’t go far, but we had a good time. We stayed by the pool, ate in nice restaurants, and of course, were intimate. A good time was had by all.
Today I’m just really grateful for my little family.

- Dumbledore is a jerk! I cannot believe he was only concerned about Harry so Harry could die. Seriously what the hell? I was quite disillusioned.
- Snape is the true hero of these books. I wonder if the reason that Voldemort could never read his mind was that he was motivated by LOVE?
- Neville Longbottom is finally got the attention he deserved. That prophecy could have referred to him but Voldemort ignored it. In the end he, too, played a vital role.
- How did Neville pull out Godric Gryffendor’s sword if the goblin had run off with it?
I could say a lot more… but i won’t. LOL

Schmoozer… Me?

So Dawn over at Coming to a Nursery Near You… gave me this award. Since she is my best friend and I met her through blogging, I have to say I’m thrilled. Here’s what the description of the award said…
“As it goes, schmoozing is the natural ability “to converse casually, especially in order to gain an advantage or make a social connection.” Good schmoozers effortlessly weave their way in and out of the blogosphere, leaving friendly trails and smiles, happily making new friends along the way. They don’t limit their visits to only the rich and successful, but spend some time to say hello to new blogs as well. They are the ones who engage others in meaningful conversations, refusing to let it end at a mere hello – all the while fostering a sense of closeness and friendship.”
Isn’t that just sweet?
I pass this award on to these friendly people who welcomed me to the world of Mommy Blogging.
Megan at BadKittyCats. Megan was the first person to say “Nice to meet you!” I really appreciated that.
Holly Schwendiman from Holly’s Corner. She gave me my first cyber hug on this blog. I thought that was very sweet.
That’s it for now, but I’m new to mommy blogging. I’m sure I will meet lots of great people and make lots of friends.
I like to schmooze after all.

Oh Yuck!
Beau has to have his food blended in a blender. He never learned to chew when he was a baby. To our delight, he’s learning now! He’s trying all kinds of foods, from pizza to cookies to french fries.
The only trouble is, he eats like a baby. You remember, spitting out as much as they consume? Well, you know what a mess your baby made… imagine this on the scale of a nine year old. Its rather yuck.
Last week I was asleep on the sofa and Beau decided to have some french fries that I had put on the kitchen table for him. Unfortunately he didn’t stay at the kitchen table. He came in the living room to wallow all over me. It wasn’t until I woke up that I realized that I was covered in spit out french fries. GROSS!
That was an I need a shower moment. Share your “I need a shower” moment for this contest bought to you by Karen over at PediaScribe. Its kinda fun to read all the gross stories she has linked. It lets you know that no matter how icky you may have felt… someone else had it worse!

The Roof, The Roof, The Roof is on fire!
So my house caught on fire. I was cleaning house and threw some clothes in the dryer. A few minutes later, while I was doing dishes, I smelled something and heard a crackling in Beau’s room. I rushed in there to find the fuse box turning black and smoke coming from it. I was on the phone with my sister Valerie and she had the presence of mind to tell me to use the fire extinguisher. So I did. Then I called 911.
Rescue workers descended on the house. I was in a panic as they trooped in and proceeded to cut my electricity and poke a hole in Beau’s ceiling. They crawled around on my roof and finally decided the house was safe but that we could have no electricity until the fuse box was repaired.
This left us in a predicament. We had no where to stay. So I called the Red Cross and they put us up in a hotel. We took Beau and went to the hotel with TV dinners for him and a $95 gift card the Red Cross gave us for food.
J got the electric fixed the next day. We still need to upgrade to a breaker box, but for now our fuse box is fixed and we were able to move back into our house. We decided that since we had missed checkout time to just spend the night at the hotel so Beau could swim in the pool. He loved it!
End result no real harm was done. We were badly shaken though.

Future Dreams
Beau won camper of the day again at school today. That’s the fifth time since June 18th! I’m so proud of him. At the very least it means he had no behaviors today. At one time I really worried that he was going to be thrown out of the private school he attends because they couldn’t handle him. My friend Tracy had to put her son in a group home and that fear is always there, circling in the back of my mind. Its things like camper of the day that really reassure me that Beau is doing well.
Its hard not to get caught up in a whirlwind of what ifs when you are a parent. I think every parent on the planet worries about what would happen to their children if something happened to them. Every parent worries about their children’s future. I worry about paying for college for Kat and Beau developing seizures during his teens. I worry that they won’t be happy in their futures. Because beyond anything that’s what I want for my children. Happiness. I know that they probably won’t go smoothly on the paths that I have in mind for them. They are individuals with their own thoughts and feelings and they will do things the way the see fit. But even if Kat gets married right out of high school and Beau goes to a group home, I want them to be happy.
At least more often than not. Please?
